Just as Smart

A while ago someone, in a letter to the editor, suggested that money invested in trade schools and apprenticeships would be better spent on educating doctors, lawyers, and other university grads.

MY RESPONSE

Next time your toilet backs up, your roof is leaking, your flooring needs to be replaced, your lights don't work, your doors leak, or your house needs painting, call a doctor.

I bet most of the infrastructure you take for granted--including the buildings used by our medical system, the roads you drive on, the building you work in, and the house you live in--was built by construction workers who 'may have a grade 8 or high school education'.

Sorry, we do not all have PhD in hammering and sawing (sometimes we have to use a nail, too). But usually it gets done.

Occasionally, we might even do a better job than a group of university grads.
